Manufactured in Italy in the 1920s, this basketball bears the inscription “Palla al cesto”, the term used before “Pallacanestro” became the standard Italian name for basketball. Its original bladder was later replaced in Uruguay, extending the ball's life. Discovered more than 10,000 kilometres from where it was made, the ball may have travelled across the Atlantic with an Italian immigrant seeking a new life in South America, making it a unique witness to both basketball and migration history.
